Bright ruby red, aromas reminiscent of violets, red currants and cherries and, with age, spices, game and stewed prunes. On the palate, it also displays light some vegetal notes, brambles and mineral notes, of graphite, to give a soolid texture and strong base to the wine. Its concentration and complexity come through with delicacy, and the wine tends to open up fairly early. Volnay is often described as one of Burgundy’s most feminine wines.
